Generaly Nigeria has two seasons which are rainy season and dry seasons.it is wet and hot most of the year in the southeast of nigeria. In the southwest and farther island the climate is dry

In Nigeria, the climate is hot tropical during this corona period.

Association between climate and Spread of corona

A Question was asked about above topic to Mr Wyns who is a scientist, specialises on climate change. he said that directly there is no association between climate change and spread of the COVID-19 disease.The corona virus causing COVID-19 was not caused by climate change and can be spread whether hot and humid or cold and dry. Even though it did not affect the spread of COVID-19, it could indirectly make the effects of a spreading.

Spread of Corona Virus in Nigeria

The first case of the coronavirus in sub-Saharan Africa has been confirmed in Nigeria.The patient is an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and flew into the commercial city of Lagos from Milan on 25 February. Lockdown Status in Nigeria

most of the countries in th world announced lockdown to decrease the spread of COVID-19 by the end of March. President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari directed the cessation of all movements in Lagos and the FCT for an initial period of 14 days, which took effect from 11 pm on Monday, 30th March 2020. The movement restriction, which was extended by another two-weeks period, has been partially put on hold with some businesses commencing operations from May 4. On April 27th, 2020, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari declared an overnight curfew from 8 pm to 6 am across the country, as part of new measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19. This comes along with the phased and gradual easing of lockdown measures in FCT, Lagos, and Ogun States, which took effect from Saturday, 2nd May 2020, at 9 am. On Monday, 29th June 2020 the federal government extended the second phase of the eased lockdown by 4 weeks and approved interstate movement outside curfew hours with effect from July 1, 2020.

Conclusion

In Nigeria corona patients increased slowly from March mid. During April end to May start there is fluctuations in confirmed patients. After May first week confirmed patients were decreased. Recover rate is 20.03 and death rate is 3.30 in Nigeria. Nigeria has confirmed patients more than nearest countries such as Chad, Niger, Benin, Cameroon. But Comparatively (nearest countries) death rate of Nigeria and recover rate of Nigeria are low. Therefore, active cases of Nigeria is very high (see bar chart) Recover rate of Nigeria is higher than recover rate of America at the same time China has a highest recover rate.

Discussion

  • This dataset has data only from 2020-01-22 to 2020-05-12. So I don’t analyze after 2020-05-12 But mentioned the current status of Corona virus in Nigeria above under the heading “Spread of Corona Virus in Nigeria”.
  • The picture of Climate data is not accurate. That is forecasted one. So there may any mistakes in temperatures
